So I go check out FHOTD today and what hits me right in the face when the page loads......more shit being flung!
It never ceases to amaze me that FHOTD brings out this kind of hostility amongst it's readers.
What is it about that blog that no one can get past the bullshit and stick to the topic at hand?

If anybody posts a website advertising their services, they are fair game for criticism. I don't care how old they are, because they are representing themselves as a business person who is capable of entering into business contracts with clients. If that's not true, all the more reason to spread the "buyer beware" word.
Criticising them is no different from criticising a CL ad, a silly TV ad, or making one of those fake WalMart ads you see on YouTube.
And public information (such as a court record) is just that: public. There is no law against sharing that information, or expressing opinions about that information. If someone chooses to use that information to stalk or harass someone, well, the person doing the stalking or harassing is breaking the law. The person who gave them the information has not.
For example, our state has a website where you can find information on registered sex offenders. It doesn't suggest that you follow them home and harass them. It was ruled legal under the Constitution.

When I was dealing with "my" imposter, that was sorted out quickly after contacting Blogger, however there is a rather drawn out process, including mailing a hardcopy letter outlining a number of things under their conditions, what the violation is, where it took place, EXACT addresses/URL's to the posts made by the imposter and so forth.

I am thinking you're right about that, though it would take something really Earth shattering in order for them to take action.
My guess is that Cathy took away the comments merely because she was finally tired of the imbeciles taking advantage of HER blog, and that was evidenced by her comment that some folks just cannot seem to behave themselves with given the ability to have their voices heard. Dena is a prime example of that, and she continues to exemplify that statement.

My website has been ripped apart by a few individuals on the FHOTD blog over the six months I have been there. That IMO is fully fair, go to town. ;)

When I was involved in an unsavory thread over at the FSH forum, there was all sorts of "public information" posted about myself and my family.
What I do find reprehensible is Dena's "eye for an eye" attitude when coming from her perspective after she has REPEATEDLY stated that she did not feel it was right to lash out in anger (which she has fully admitted on her own blogs) and said, over and over, that she would refrain from such behavior. Eye for an eye, if done in a responsible fashion, is fine. Personal vendettas when done for personal satisfaction are not.

Some folks I have talked to lament the loss of who rosesr4evr was when she first arrived at FHOTD. Now she has simply become Dena's parrot, repeating everything Dena says, spouting off about things Dena becomes indignant about ad nauseum.
I wouldn't know, by the time I first encountered roses, she was already harping away about Cathy.

I told this story on the Free Speech board, but I'll tell it here again.
A few years ago...okay, it was probably more like ten or twelve... I was a young(er) and slightly less cynical individual. The redhead wasn't born yet. I didn't frequent any horse communities online, but there was one general interest EZBoard with a gamer slant that I hung around.
Along came a certain person, who, even over an internet connection, gave off a feeling of... well, I can only compare it to the feeling I got after seeing Crazy Dena's first post. He was abrasive, obsessive, took everything personally, would be kind to a user in one post and turn around and attack them the next.
Most of the users just ignored him, or a few figured he was just socially-retarded and tried to extend the hand of friendship. (We're gamers after all) But the owner of the board felt bad that contact with him tended to make the other uses raise their quills, and offered him support.
Here's where things get a little fuzzy. I -think- what happened was the mod went away for a week, and this guy flipped out. Basically left panic-shit all over the board. Sent her a million emails asking where she was and what she was doing, saying he loved her more than anyone. Emailed all her friends, told them he was completely in love with her, et al.
When the mod came back she was understandably freaked out. Asked him repeatedly to stop. He found her phone number and her address, and this was in the days -before- Google. She was afraid to get a restraining order and afraid he was going to come after her, and EZBoard didn't seem to care about their own terms of use, so she blocked him.
Cue this idiot trolling every related blog, stalking other users, harassing everyone that had spoken to her, criticizing anyone that was still friends with her because he loved her and was so hurt that she could treat a good friend this way. You know, stuff very similar to what Crazy Dena has been doing.
The mod withdrew from the board and disappeared for a couple months to deal with the anxiety he caused her. As for this asshole? He eventually was irrevocably banned from the server for impersonating EZBoard staff. Don't know where he is now.
So I am a veteran of this sort of silly shit, and I see it ending one of two ways. Neither one bodes particularly well for Crazy Dena.
(For the record, just about the only thing regarding me you'd find online would be a free gallery of poorly-done draconian art. We artists tend to keep a low profile online to avoid stalkers.)

Dena - there were times when I did not comment at FHOTD for days/weeks. It all depended on the topic - and the schedule around here. I post Elsewhere much more regularly. You had outposted me (and almost everyone else) by at least 20 to 1 at FHOTD of late. I do not think I am the one going through withdrawal - I have and always have had other "communities " to visit. Where posts like some of those you revelled in at FHOTD would be laughed at and torched. You have your own blogs to play on - and yet you used FHOTD as your personal playground and shooting gallery. People were weary of it. There were better ways to come across and better ways to handle the situation.

I saw some Google correspondance with the friend I mentioned earlier - and they ended up telling her that her claims were unfounded... that ITO she was harrassing other Google members inappropriately - as well as them. Her IP would be logged and she would be denied access to Blogger and other related Google sites.

It was Dena's manic, how was it that Serendipity put it? Microwave brand of crazy...that caused Cathy to finally give up on having comments freely available to the public and therefore made her blog only about her opinions. Brilliant, wouldn't you say?
In truth, I do have an incredibly busy life and honestly I would rather spend my online time enjoying myself, reading what interests me, communicating with my friends and my peers as well as those with similar interests, instead of constantly having to engage one Dena Rodacker.
We have our next show one week from tomorrow, and I have been very busy making sure kids and horses are ready to compete. Unfortunately out here in the desert, it's been unbearably hot during the day and I'm stuck inside for a few hours. I long for the day that I do not have to refute some bullshit or other than Dena spouts off about me. Would be nice... :)

Since JR came to the blogs I have seen a major transformation in his attitude. Though I still believe that he will always call it like he sees it and it will be no holds barred when he does, he has definitley changed. I think he is the type to forgive and forget. I have since gained a whole lot of respect for JR, in not just his professionalism but also in his training methods. I was so happy when he started his training blog. There is definitely
a lot of knowlege there that we can all learn from.
As far as this blog goes, I would hope that all of you will respect his wishes
and keep your arguments to yourselves. SFTS, perhaps you can learn from JR's professionalism and not drag anymore of your life into this blog.

This is where you and I part ways in our thinking. Because JR did allow Dena a free rein to attack and not be moderated. I wouldn't have tolerated it, which is why my first post on my new blog last weekend stated right up front that there would be NO flaming or attacking whatsoever, or comments would be severely moderated. I have no problem with passionate discussion and heated discourse. But flames, attacks and slinging mud is never acceptable in my book.
To me, the "professional" thing to do is to not allow the above in any way, shape or form. Hence, how I administer my blog ~ in a very professional way. :)

The reason for the new screen name is because I want to start fresh.
As far as the Fridat night blog parties. I can understand why he does it. He does it to take a break from horses which besides his family is the focus of his life. And the only time a party got out of hand was when you and Dena got into it. JR as well as everyone had to tell you repeatedly to cut the shit. And that was the only time.

Not exactly. Dena came after me on more than one of JR's blog posts. I also repeatedly attempted to ignore her, however she continued the tantrums, like the obnoxious three year old child stomping her feet and saying "You CAN'T make me! So THERE!" until I got fed up with her and gave her as good as she was trying to give me.

The current comment issue is a direct result of a certain party posting a certain address. Not because she wants it that way.
I'm sorry you felt blown off, but it is entirely possible with the amount of comments posted on there that the person who needed to respond to your question/comment/statement never saw it.
You should never take a lack of response personal. There are too many people commenting and if everyone responded to everyone, each comment section would reach epic proportions.
As to the rest of it... well sometimes poking it with a stick is just fun. =) I know, sick & twisted. But it's like rubber necking past an accident, sometimes you just can't resist.

Yes I've had a major life change recently. I'm unemployed for the moment (last day was 16th) so I can concentrate on big event! We are MOVING!!! Yay! We just bought our first home.
It's appx 30 min drive from current location, so not feasible to drive an hour for my job, plus my clients weren't all in one time block. I might have a client at 10am then my 2nd client wouldn't be until 7:30pm. (health care)
So for now, I have a little time to just relax before the crazy time of packing, moving, unpacking and planning our son's first B-day party that is scheduled for the weekend after we get to take possesion of the house, begins. FUN FUN FUN.
I will FINALLY be able to have my horse at the house that I live at! I'd previously leased a small barn/pasture with access to miles of park trails, which was nicer than boarding but having my horse right outside my door will be heaven.
The reason why there's chunks of time breaks in my posts is I usually just walk by puter, see what's going on, post what I have to say, then go throw in more laundry, make a bottle, change a diaper, vacuum, run the dishwasher, pack some things, etc. I do this rather than watch tv.
Congratulations on buying your house, roses. That's really very exciting. I'm genuinely happy for you!
We are in the market, so to speak. Prices are good, terms are great and by the end of the year we hope to be closing escrow on the farm of our dreams.
Until then, I feel lucky enough that I have such wonderful places to work horses out of, and that I can have my own horses right at home. It really, truly is Heaven. :)

Around here the median price for anything with more than 3 acres starts at $175,000 to topping out at about $400,000. That's just for a 2000sqft, maybe 3 bd 2ba, with or without horse facilities. I've seen some of the property prices else where and I'm floored!

I wish I'd known I was going to have a horse when we bought ours! I'm also in CA though, and in my area 1/2 acre zoned for horses would run between $250 and $400! And my husband won't move now anyways. Oh well.

It's hard for vacations (finding someone you trust to care for them) when it isn't a boarding facility, but it is SOOOO worth looking out your kitchen window and seeing you horse.

Just horse. :-( Just the old redhead with the choppy short strided lope. So next year when I get my tax return, SO says I can use it for my show horse purchase. It's been being put off by one thing or another for the last 3 years. But that's okay, because now that we bought the house, it has 4 acres that are shaded by intermittent mature hickory trees and I don't have to board anymore or lease!! We got a great deal though, 4 bd, 3ba, att gar, huge deck, abv grnd pool, and a pond for under $200,000. Not too shabby!!
I really love it. Now we just have to build the barn and put in the fencing. I want to do board fencing in the front(along the road) and no climb w/ board topper everywhere else. Also, we're only putting in 3 stall for the barn and one is a wash stall! That way I'm not tempted!

Central Illinois. Prices are very reasonable here compared to some that I've seen. Plus we have plenty of horse business here, access to quality, affordable hay, places to ride, etc. It's a very friendly state to horses and horse people.

NHM-no worries! We have extra bedroom!! We can swim in the pool, sun ourselves on the deck while the steaks are cooking on the grill, of course this is after we go ride in one of the nearby state parks!
We're further south than CHI area and the prices are even more reasonable.

Unfortunately, his passion is our backyard, which after 8 years, finally has everything he has ever desired (pool, outdoor pool table, tiki hut, bar, etc.).
He could re-create it on a larger scale on acreage, but it would require a lot more money! And he'll never move anywhere cold. He is actually gleeful when it's 110 degrees. Meanwhile, the dogs, cats, and myself all line up in front of the AC!
AACK!! 110 degrees?? No way! I'll take winter time anytime over that! At least if it's cold I can always put on more clothes, instead of having to take them off. It's probably better that way around for everybody LOL!!

I have personal and professional liability. Many homeowners policies extend coverage from your home to your horses...whether they are at your home, or at a stable. You should check with your agent.
USEF gives an automatic $1,000,000 when you join. It is an assocation policy. The coverage only extends to the member. It can be at home, at a show etc... it however does not extend to family members.
Most personal individual plans I've seen run around $200+ a year.
Professional liability usually has a minimum premium coverage amount. Often starts at $500 a year. You can add additonal coverages...like care custody control. Premiums are often based on annual receipts, how many horses, lessons etc...

I am dutifully ignoring her now that there has been made a public warning to cease the behavior. :)
What is almost painfully funny is, everything that has been added to her blog (I always want to call it her blah blah...because that is all that's ever posted there, lol) has been "out there" on the internet for months. Many months before the action which she is purportedly "reporting" me for even transpired. I am highly amused about it all, though. So, how is your day going? And the rest of our terrific commenters here? It's pretty darn hot here, high 90's, so I am inside enjoying the air conditioning for a while before heading back out to tackle getting more done and before lessons start for the afternoon.
My days good SFTS, Woke up at 430 am...waiting until the sun came up to go start soaking the hay for morning feeding and what do I see? My girls hanging in my front yard. Hmmm. I think, did the app learn how to unlatch the stall door? Crap.
Head to the barn to see what happened and get halters, found the new, reinforced latch to the stall (I JUST installed yesterday!) is busted! *sighs* well, here we go. It's a cool morning, they are feeling good, extra freedom, this should be fun(Cause my old girl, has the sense of humor of a professional comedian some days). I Grab a halter, and the girls walk right up to get their morning scratches and make my am easy! I love my girls!
So, after hay stringing the stall door shut (Not sure what I am gonna use now, the girls have obviously mastered the breakout on these latches - this is the third one- and the new one was heavy duty)
Pulled a bunch of weeds and cleaned the house. Now it is chill time!

Husband and I are going to be searching for our first property in the next couple years, and as soon as everyone at the barn heard, they were all teasing us to buy a starter horse property for our co-op to move to. I'm not adverse to the idea, but I was having nightmares about $1000/month insurance premiums.

Our day here is busy, as usual, and still too darn hot. :-/ Heading back out shortly to get more done, bathing a few horses (mainly to enjoy the water ;) and getting ready for the rest of this evening. After I'm all finished up with the horses, clients and students, I'll be thinking about what to do for dinner ~ I do think it's hubby's turn, but he may not be back from the job he's working on until late, either.
Want to come clean my house? :P Actually, because of the oppressive heat all week (therefore, too much "inside time" time week) and my daughter returning home from Summer vacation to help me, it's pretty clean! :)

Hey girl - say WHAT? Criticizing the great PNW weather???? Those are FIGHTING WORDS!
Well, why might JR and CNJ long of the PNW weather? Hmm...Well - currently the national marine forecast has a "severe weather advisory" alert because the PacNW is due to experience a prolonged and extreme heat wave and drought. The high temp predicted for my off-shore location...(Wait for it...).
....82 degrees. That's right - not 182 degrees, but 82 degrees, as in not even 90.
Now, for me - a PacNW born and bred, anything over 68 degrees is getting too hot. I like "sweatsuit" weather. Just comfy in a sweatsuit.
And actually, a lot of folks don't realize this, but typically the PacNW gets very little rain July through September (usually rains on 4th of July, then not much at all the rest of the summer). Where I happen to live, we are in a "rainshadow" created by the Olympic Mountains and we actually get just 18 to 22 inches of rain a year. Seattle is about 36 inches, which actually is less than a lot of places (NY, for instance, is more...).
However, we can have a lot of grey, "damp air" days with mild drizzle. Especially in the spring. And winter has lots of grey days - not much of those sunny blue sky crispy cold days. Just grey and damp.
But I would still take that any day over a place that is typically 100degrees plus in the summer. That just ain't right!
But we are the top 14 cities with the lowest average sunshine.
Actually, it rains more often, and the cloudiest area in the contential US.

This is true...Not a lot of "heat units" as we "farmers" say...
Although this year has been a bit different! I'm actually starting to get ripe tomatoes, and blooms on eggplants! Considering last year my tomato crop consisted of 4 wheelbarrows full of HUGE green tomatoes in late October and usually my eggplants shrivel up and die a week after planting them...(The nightshade family isn't my best crop for sure, except for potatoes, I can do potatoes okay).
I'm in upstate NY and we're still waiting for summer to come. It's been rainy and below 82 since our last heat spell, a couple days back in May. In a few weeks, the nights are going to cool off as we start to descend into autumn.

PNW weather is really OK--windstorms, but not even close to Katrina. Earthquakes, but nothing compared to California. Once in awhile a tornado (a miniature one every 10 years) nothing like Kansas. Snowstorms- kind of. Floods, well yeah we do get the real thing every year. Volcanoes--still waiting for the big one.
If you like variety but hate both bitter cold and sunburn, this is the place to be. But they're predicting record heat (up to 100 maybe?!) for the next few days.
